OUTLINE

1. Jesus was FULL of the Holy Spirit, and so are WE

a. “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness” ~ Luke 4:1

b. “And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” ~ Acts 2:2-4

2. Jesus was LED by the Holy Spirit, and so are WE

a. “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.” ~ Luke 4:1

b. “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” ~ Galatians 5:25 (NLT)

3. Jesus was EMPOWERED by the Holy Spirit, and so are WE

a. ”And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.” ~ Luke 4:14

b. ”But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.” ~ Acts 3:6-8

4. Jesus was ANOINTED by the Holy Spirit, and so are WE

a. ”The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” ~ Luke 4:18

b. “While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.” ~ Acts 10:44-45

5. Jesus was SENT by the Holy Spirit, and so are WE

a. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” ~ Luke 4:18-19

b. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 2:8

6. The Holy Spirit is a person NOT a mystic force.

7. When are we filled with the Holy Spirit? – at salvation.

8. Why don’t I seem to have any of the power of the Holy Spirit in my life? The power of the Holy Spirit is not subject to our authority. He works on His time, in His ways, to accomplish His purposes.
